Chef Menteur Pass is a natural waterway between Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Borgne in Louisiana. Two swing bridges (a highway and a railway bridge) cross the pass.
The Chef Menteur Bridge carries U. S. Highway 90 across the pass. It consists of trestle approaches and three through truss spans with the center span designed as a swing bridge.
This area was impacted by Hurricane Katrina. The bridge was inundated and it took a year before repairs to the swing span were completed and vehicles could drive across the bridge again.
