Yuba County, California Bridges: Los Verjeles Road Bridge across South Honcut Creek

October 2013 (39.36694 Degrees, -121.37194 Degrees) Los Vergeles Road Bridge
Continuing upstream along South Honcut Creek we arrived at a one span arch bridge. Los Verjeles Road Bridge (16C0026) is an open spandrel reinforced concrete arch that was built in 1940.
This bridge is 58 ft long, 18 ft wide, and it carries 730 vehicles a day. Even a 58 ft span seems pretty dramatic across this stony chasm. I was thinking about how art should appear effortless. However the graffiti on this bridge seems to be more like nervous scribbles (although some of the stuff on the far abutment looks pretty good). The bridge appears to have been cast directly into the eroded rocks along the river. The deck is in poor condition (see photo below) and the bridge has a sufficiency rating of 26.8.
