Nevada County, California Bridges: State Route 49 across the Middle Fork of the Yuba RIver

October 2013 (39.39417, -121.08444) State Route 49 Bridge
The Middle Yuba River Bridge (17 0009) is just a single span box girder bridge, but it's such a long span and in such a pretty landscape, that it looks fairly impressive. I especially like the textured surface on the edge of the overhangs.
The Middle Yuba River Bridge is a 215 ft long bridge carrying State Route 49 (the Golden Chains Highway). It was built in 1994 by Caltrans, it's 43 ft wide, and it's on a 35 degree skew. This bridge carries almost 3000 vehicles a day but the deck is in only fair condition maybe due to the snow and ice and (and deicing agents) that sit on the deck during the winter.
