Yuba County, California Bridges: Colusa (Route 20) Highway Bridge across the Yuba River

October 2013 (39.2209 Degrees, -121.3360 Degrees) Colusa Highway Bridge
East of Marysville the banks of the Yuba River are damaged due to the large scale hydraulic mining of gold. East of Englebright Lake the river is crossed by the Colusa Highway (Route 20). An earlier bridge that was built in 1913 (and documented by the Library of Congress) was determined to be eligible for the National Register of Historic Places but it ended up being demolished.
The current Yuba River (Park's Bar) Bridge (16 0011) is an eight span cast-in-place, continuous prestressed box girder bridge that was built in 1993. It is 1783 ft long with 260 ft long haunched spans over the river. This is the type of uncluttered bridge Caltrans likes to build in scenic surroundings with nicely shaped columns and big overhangs.
