August 2009 (34.1706 Degrees, -118.4781 Degrees) Los Angeles River Bridges |
On the east side of the Woodley/Balboa Parks are two 3-span box girder bridges across the Los Angeles River. These handsome bridges have sloping piers and undulating deck overhangs. We previously visited them on
February of 2009. The Burbank Blvd Bridges (53C1047 and 53C1109) were built in 1974 by Los Angeles County. Photos of the bridges are included in the collection of the Getty Museum, however I don't know who designed them or why they have different bridge numbers. Note how the Los Angeles River has returned to its natural condition at this location.
