Japan's Bridges: Miyazawa Bridge over Hirose River, Miyagi Prefecture

June 2011 (38.241 Degrees, 140.885 Degrees) Miyazawa Bridge
This photo was taken while standing on the Hirose Bridge and looking upstream in the fading light. A concrete weir is just downstream of today's bridge, Aoba Castle can be seen on a hill overlooking the river, and downtown Sendai is in the distance.

Miyazawa Bridge is a five span steel girder bridge across the Hirose River near the Nagamachi Railway Station. Concrete slabs behind the abutments allow people walking along the river to cross under the road. Most of the steel bridges in Miyagi Prefecture are painted bright colors to add to their visual impact.
