San Joaquin County, California Bridges: State Route 4 Bridge across the San Joaquin River

April 2014 (37.92833 Degrees-121.32667 Degrees) State Route 4 Bridge
The State Route 4 Bridge (29 0050) is a 302 ft long swing bridge with concrete T girder approach spans. It was built in 1933 with a 24 ft wide deck and with 16.1 ft vertical clearance below the portal frame. It also provides 13 ft of vertical clearance above the river according to 'Movable Bridge Engineering" and it's apparently still in operation. Instead of the big operator's house above the center pier that we saw on previous swing bridges a a tiny cubicle is cantilevered on the outside of the through truss on this bridge.
