June 2011 (35.712 Degrees, 139.801 Degrees) Tobu Railway Bridge |
I provided a previous photo of the Tobu Bridge on May 31, 2009. This bridge is something between a deck truss and a through truss with the deck a little bit below the top chord. Because the bridge has several tracks they provided a frame rather than a catenary rail to power the trains. My previous photo showed two column bents carrying the truss but in this photo they look more like pier walls.
The last few bridges were three span arches, but the river must be getting a little wider or perhaps there was another reason for switching to a truss on this bridge. The railway continues west of the river as a deep plate girder bridge before entering the station. Then it branches out into a dozen different lines.
