Japan's Bridges: Machigashira Bridge in Miyagi Prefecture

I like sculptures of animals that are sometimes placed at the ends of bridges. My September 26, 2009 blog shows lions guarding a bridge in Vancouver. My September 18, 2011 blog shows wild horses galloping in front of a bridge in India. Perhaps only in Japan would there be a bridge guarded by ducks (or geese?).

Baseball is a popular activity in Japan and this bridge has baseball diamonds on both sides of Route 33 at the northwest end of this bridge. We are back in the Kofunakoshi District, about six miles upstream from the mouth of the Kitakami River.
