The I Street Bridge (22C0153) is a double-deck swing bridge that carries two sets of railroad tracks on the bottom and motor vehicles (and pedestrians) on top. It was built by the American Bridge Company in 1912 and is currently owned by Union Pacific. Dozens of passenger and freight trains cross the bridge every day from San Jose and San Francisco in the west into Sacramento and then eastward to Salt Lake City, Chicago, and New York.
More photos and information about this hardworking bridge (placed into the National Register of Historic Places in 1982) is available from the Bridgehunter as well as many other websites.
